This very popular nasi lemak stall in Kulai Besar is referred to us by a local from Kulai. The uniquely aromatic fried chicken, homemade sambal chili and fragrant coconut rice are the reasons why they have been drawing in large crowds since 1980.

Wak Kentut uses good quality rice grains for their nasi lemak. Not your average nasi lemak - the rice grains are loose and fluffy, not stuck together in sticky lumps. Their sambal is excellent too. It is mildly spicy hot, leaning towards the sweet side.

Topped with a large dollop of sambal and cucumber slices, the coconut-flavoured rice comes with side dishes like ayam rempah or Malay fried chicken. But everything on the plate at Wak Kentut - the rice, sambal, chicken, peanuts, and even the cucumbers are simply mouthwatering.

Crispy on the outside, sweet, tender and juicy inside, the fried chicken at Wak Kentut is outstandingly delicious too.

Now, the secret to Wak Kentut fried chicken? We have been told that the chicken, after being fried for the first time, has to be left to cool down and later returned to the boiling oil to be fried once more. By double frying the chicken, the crust and outer layer is kept crispy while the flesh inside remains tender and succulently sweet with its natural juices. The chicken is also less greasy in this way.

The chicken are fried in batches and every time a new batch is ready, customers will pick the ones they are fancy of, then it will be chopped into bite sizes.
