KWAY TEOW SOUP @ RESTORAN TUA THOW 大头餐室 IN JOHOR BAHRU
This kway teow soup stall in Tua Thow coffee shop is among the most popular in Johor and one of our favourites.
The stall holder Mdm Tan have been on her station tooking care the quality of food, even when the shop was packed with a big crowd. Serving admirable unfailing commitment to quality food for the past 30 plus years.
They serve dried and soup noodles. Customers can opt for small, medium or big, the interesting part is the "small, medium or big" does not represent the portion and size of your meal, but the variety of ingredients to be added in the soup. "Small" costs RM5.00, "Medium" costs RM7.00 and "Big" costs RM10.00. Other than the ingredients predetermined by the price, you can customise your noodles by requesting for add-ons, for example baby abalone, additional prawn, squids and etc.
The stock bone broth was light bodied and rich with savoury sweet flavours. Together with the fresh pork and seafood the taste of the soup is heavenly.
I got myself a "small" mee kia dry tossed in a soy sauce and lard blend. The aroma of porky lard rise teasingly to our nose when we tossed the noodles.
Love Tua Thow kway teow soup stall and I will be back to try out the other ingredients that they sell with the soup.
